Clubs and Activities
Every student has the opportunity to explore a wide range of co-curricular activities, from arts to sports, from debating to journalism — because exploring is a vital part of growing. We encourage students to try new things, so that they can discover who they really want to be.
Lower School
The Lower School co-curricular program is open to students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 and activities are included in the tuition fees.
The program offers activities, athletics (competitive and non-competitive), leadership opportunities, as well as private mother tongue language clubs.
The Program is run over three seasons - fall, winter and spring.
To allow for a greater focus on age/developmentally-appropriate activities, students in:
- Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 can choose two activities each season, the second being a German activity
- Grade 4 can choose two activities each season
- Grade 5 can choose up to three activities each season, the third one being an all year long "Leadership opportunity" activity
- Private mother tongue language clubs are counted as an additional activity.
There are opportunities for parents to view activities on offer and register their children online prior to each season. Dates to register will be communicated through MyZIS Weekly News in the Community Portal.
Middle School
The Middle School has an extensive co-curricular program, based around student clubs, recreational and competitive athletics, and the performing arts.
Some activities take place during the school day and/or after school, while others require participation in a one-time event. Some activities are offered by season and others for the whole academic year.
- In addition to competitive sports teams there is a range of recreational sports activities including rugby, swimming, soccer, basketball, snowboarding, fitness training and tennis.
- Students register directly online with their advisors before the beginning of each season.
Upper School
The Upper School has an extensive co-curricular program based around student clubs, service learning, academics, athletics, and the performing arts. Some activities take place during the school day and/or after school, while others require participation in a one-time event. Some activities are offered by season and others for the whole academic year.
