Information Technology

Technology is focused around an integrated learning approach; it is an instructional strategy that is embedded in a creative, coherent, and consistent manner. Our vision interprets technology as a natural and essential part of everyday school life for all members of our school community. Technology empowers students to pursue personal interests and purposeful learning experiences, inspires students to develop critical thinking skills and supports continuous inquiry. We extend the walls of our classroom through authentic and rich learning experiences and by using information technology in creative ways. Experiences are designed to be developmentally appropriate and relevant. All students learn to be responsible, thoughtful and literate digital citizens. We teach explicit lessons using the Common Sense Media curriculum.

These sessions cover the areas of:

  • Media balance and well-being
  • Privacy and security
  • Digital identity and footprint
  • Relationships and communication
  • Cyberbullying
  • Media literacy

Technology provision:

  • In Early Childhood there are a set of four to five iPads available for each class.
  • In Kindergarten there is an iPad for every two students.
  • Each student in Grades 1–5 is assigned a school-owned iPad at the beginning of each year. This iPad is used by students to enhance learning. iPad agreements are visited regularly with the class and are monitored throughout the year.
  • Seesaw is the platform students and teachers use to capture and share learning moments with their learning community.
  • Online platforms and digital learning tools can be accessed through the library website.
