German / French / Spanish Advanced Proficient
At the Advanced Proficiency level, students communicate with near-native fluency and strategic control across academic, professional, and social contexts. They engage in sustained, abstract discussions, debate complex issues, and adapt language flexibly to varied audiences. Students critically analyze complex authentic materials, evaluating nuance, tone, and cultural implications. They produce sophisticated, polished, multi-paragraph discourse, synthesizing ideas, advocating positions, and demonstrating refined control of vocabulary and structures. This course serves as a transition toward Language A study, preparing students for the linguistic, analytical, and academic demands of advanced literature and language courses.
