STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) plays an important role in the programme offered at ZIS. The innovators and leaders of the future will require sound knowledge and skills in a variety of STEM-based fields. At the ZIS Lower School, we believe we have a responsibility to develop transferable STEM skills through engaging all students – even our youngest learners – in solving real-world problems. Using the NGSS engineering practices standards as a framework, we have designed units of study at each grade level that support our students to develop transferable STEM skills. STEM experiences can take place in our Design Lab or in the classroom and may include coding and robotics experiences, internal and external STEM events, and various after school (ATAC) STEM offerings.
