Theatre Arts SL and HL is a two-year course designed to develop personal, academic, aesthetic and practical theatre skills and learn to understand the holistic nature of theatre. The course centres around four main areas - collaboratively creating original theatre, staging play texts, exploring world theatre traditions and performing theatre theory. In year 1 of the course the students’ learning is guided as they work to understand the requirements of each area. In year 2 students have much more freedom of choice as they apply knowledge and skills gained into the four assessed elements of the course - the Collaborative Project, the Research Presentation, the Production Proposal and the Solo Theatre Piece (HL only).
