Peer Mentoring

Grades: 11, 12

Subject Area/Course Credit: Elective Course credit received, non-graded class

Prerequisite: teacher recommendation and application process.

Peer Mentors serve as leaders and role models, supporting younger students in developing confidence, independence, and effective learning habits. Mentors are scheduled within Learning Support or content-area classes, where they may work with an individual student, a small group, or the whole class, depending on need.

Through this experience, Peer Mentors develop valuable leadership and interpersonal skills, including communication, collaboration, empathy, responsibility, and adaptability. They strengthen their ability to guide others, provide constructive feedback, and model positive learning behaviors.

Students earn credit by meeting the expectations established by their supervising teacher and by successfully completing a reflective portfolio demonstrating their growth, contribution, and impact as a mentor.
