Literacy assessments:
- Teachers confer with individual students to support their development as readers and writers. This formative assessment is ongoing throughout the year.
- Each writing unit is assessed according to clear criteria. Evidence of the writing process and unit checklists are shared with parents at the end of each unit.
- The MAP Reading Fluency assessment is used to gather data on oral reading fluency, literal comprehension, and foundational reading skills.
- The Fountas and Pinnell Sight Word vocabulary assessment is conducted, as developmentally appropriate.
- The Words Their Way assessment is used with students in Grade 1-5 to assess their spelling proficiency and to determine next steps.
