World Religions and Belief Systems (Semester 1)

Grades: 10, 11 or 12

Subject Area/Course Credit: Social Studies, 0.5 credit, semester course

Prerequisite: None

This course is an introduction to some of the world’s major religions and belief systems. Possible topics are:  Animism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Monotheism, and Taoism. The course looks into their origins, major developments, and basic fundamental values and beliefs about questions like why we are here?  Students will also visit some of the places of worship for these religions in the Zurich area.  The course will also discuss some of the similarities and differences among the major religions and examine the connections and influences they have.
